Frequently Asked Questions

Every answer you need,
before you ask.

No fluff, no runaround. Here's exactly how X4 Digital works — from first dollar to finished site.

The Product

Completely custom. There is no template database. No drag-and-drop theme. No pre-built page that gets your logo dropped in.

Every site is generated from scratch based on your conversation with the AI designer. The layout, typography, color palette, section order, copy tone, and page structure are all derived from what you tell us about your business — then refined through design research specific to your industry.

Two plumbers who both use X4 Digital will end up with completely different sites, because they're different businesses with different personalities, markets, and goals.

If it looks like a template, we've failed. That's not our standard — and it's not what you're paying for.

The $1 activation fee unlocks your 30-day trial. During that trial, you get a complete, production-ready website — built and deployed — plus the full revision experience to see how the product works.

It's not a preview. Not a mockup. A real, live site at a real URL that your customers can visit. We charge $1 instead of making it free because free attracts browsers. $1 attracts business owners who are serious about building something.

After 30 days, you choose a plan based on how many sites you need and how often you want to revise. Cancel any time before then and you've spent a dollar.

The conversation takes 5–10 minutes. Once you approve the creative vision, the full site is built and deployed in under 5 minutes.

Most clients are looking at a live URL in under 15 minutes from the moment they start. Multi-page sites with lots of custom content may take slightly longer — up to 20 minutes — but that's rare.

Compare that to a web agency (4–12 weeks), a freelancer (2–6 weeks), or a DIY site builder (however long it takes you to figure out why your hero image looks wrong on mobile). X4 is measured in minutes, not weeks.

You approve the creative vision before anything is built. If what you see in the vision summary isn't right, say so — the designer refines it until you're aligned. You don't get a "take it or leave it" build.

After the site goes live, you have a 12-hour revision window where you can request changes to anything — layout, colors, copy, sections, images. These aren't cosmetic tweaks. The AI redesigns and redeploys.

After the window, you can purchase additional revision sessions at any time, which give you another focused round of changes. Your site is never "locked."

We've built in multiple checkpoints specifically so you never feel stuck with something you don't love.

Before any code is written, the AI designer presents a creative vision statement — a written summary of exactly what it plans to build. This includes the visual direction, typography choices, color palette, page structure, tone of copy, and any specific design decisions it made based on your industry and brand.

You read it. You react to it. If something doesn't sit right — the vibe is off, a section is missing, the color direction isn't you — you say so and it gets revised. Only once you explicitly approve the vision does the build begin.

This step exists to prevent the most common web design complaint: "It's not what I had in mind." By aligning on the vision before writing a single line of HTML, we close that gap before it opens.

Your site stays live and fully functional — nothing changes automatically. The 12-hour window is simply the included open-ended revision period that comes with every build.

After it closes, you can still request changes by using a revision session. Revision sessions are included with your monthly plan (Power plan includes 1/month, Pro includes 3/month), and you can purchase additional sessions on-demand for $12 each.

Each revision session is a focused round of changes — you describe what you want, the AI implements it, and a new deployment goes live. Think of it like calling your designer back for another round of edits, without the billable hours.

Technical & Hosting

Yes. Custom domain connection is available on the Power plan and above. Your site initially deploys to a *.pages.dev subdomain, which is shareable and fully functional from day one.

When you're ready to connect your domain (whether you own it already or need to buy one), you add a CNAME record pointing to your X4 deployment — the process takes about 2 minutes and usually propagates within an hour.

All sites on X4 are deployed on Cloudflare's global edge network, so your custom domain comes with free SSL, fast global CDN, and 99.99% uptime built in.

Yes. Every site built on X4 is clean, standard HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. No proprietary runtime. No locked-in CMS. No vendor-specific code that breaks outside our platform.

Site download (the full file export) is available on the Power plan and above. You can host the exported files anywhere — your own server, Netlify, Vercel, or hand it to a developer to extend however you like.

We believe you should own what you paid to build. Your site is yours.

Every X4 build includes the following by default:

  • Mobile-first responsive design — looks right on every screen size
  • SEO meta tags — title, description, Open Graph, Twitter Card on every page
  • Fast global hosting — deployed to Cloudflare's edge network
  • Free SSL certificate — HTTPS on your .pages.dev URL from day one
  • QR code — auto-generated linking to your live site, ready to print on business cards or flyers
  • Google Business Profile link — a "Manage Reviews" button connecting to your GBP listing, if you provide the URL
  • Click-to-call & click-to-email — mobile-ready contact links on every relevant page
  • Version history — every deployment saved, with one-click restore
This isn't a landing page. It's a complete digital presence — from the first conversation to the live site.

Basic e-commerce functionality — product listings, a shopping cart, Stripe-powered checkout — is on the roadmap and coming soon. It's not available in the current build.

What X4 does well today: service businesses, restaurants, studios, contractors, consultants, portfolios, and any business where the goal is capturing leads, driving calls, and establishing credibility. If you sell products and need a full storefront, we'd recommend pairing your X4 site with a tool like Shopify while we build out native commerce support.

If e-commerce is critical for you, reach out — we'd love to hear the use case and it may influence our roadmap priority.

Pricing & Plans

No contract. No annual commitment. Cancel any time from your dashboard with two clicks — no email required, no "cancel confirmation" obstacle course.

Your subscription renews monthly. If you cancel before your renewal date, you keep access through the end of your current billing period. After that, your site stays live in a read-only state for 30 days to give you time to export or migrate if needed.

We think good software should earn your subscription every month. That's why there's no lock-in.

The 12-hour revision window is included with every build. It starts the moment your site goes live, and during that window you can make as many change requests as you want — it's open-ended. Think of it as the initial handoff period where you get to react to the real thing and get it exactly right.

Revision sessions are the ongoing mechanism for changes after the window closes. Each session is one focused round of revisions — you describe a batch of changes, the AI implements them together, and a new version deploys. Sessions are included with your monthly plan (number varies by tier) and can be purchased individually at $12.

The practical difference: the 12-hour window is unlimited and immediate. Revision sessions are bounded and deliberate — they're designed for batching changes rather than iterating in real time.

Agency & Pro

Every X4 account comes with a referral link. When someone signs up through your link, you earn 30% recurring commission on every payment they make — for as long as they stay subscribed.

There's no cap on referrals. No tier unlock required. Your referral link is live from day one.

  • Commissions are confirmed after the referred account has been active for 30 days
  • Payouts are processed via Stripe on the 5th of each month
  • Minimum payout threshold: $20
  • Track referrals, earnings, and payout history in the Share & Earn section of your dashboard
At $29/month Pro plan: one referral pays you $8.70/month. Ten referrals pays for your own plan five times over.

Yes. The Agency plan is specifically designed for this. It includes up to 15 active sites, white-label mode (remove X4 branding from client-facing URLs), client handoff tools, and team member seats.

Many X4 agency customers run a simple model: charge clients $500–$2,000 for a custom website, spend $29–$99/month on X4, and build the site in under an hour. The economics are compelling.

If you're building sites at volume, reach out about our white-glove partner program — we offer custom pricing, dedicated support, and co-marketing for high-volume resellers.

AX-4 is the advanced developer tier — available on the Agency plan and the white-glove tier. It gives you direct API access to the X4 build engine.

With AX-4 access you can:

  • Trigger builds programmatically from your own platform or CRM
  • Pass structured intake data directly to the build engine (no chat required)
  • Receive webhook callbacks when a build completes or a revision deploys
  • Access raw HTML/CSS output for each build via API
  • Integrate X4 into your own client onboarding workflow

This is for developers and agencies who want to embed X4's build capability into a product they're building themselves. Contact us for API documentation and access.
